The south end of Las Vegas Blvd.
Head south on Las Vegas Blvd. past Tropicana, past Mandalay Bay, past the "Drive Carefully!" message on the back of the
famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. Keep going and going. After about a half hour, you'll reach the spot where
the two photos above were taken. While this isn't actually the end of Las Vegas Blvd. (it continues as a narrow, poorly maintained
trail), it's the end of 2-lane smooth pavement. If you've gone beyond this point, e-mail me a photo and I'll post it on this page.
Sloan Canyon is also out this way. If you have a 4x4 and appropriate desert hiking clothing (watch out for rattlesnakes and
scorpions etc.) you can view petroglyphs that were drawn hundreds of years ago. Or longer. I'm not sure if they've been officially dated.
