LAS VEGAS PHOTOS #9

Las Vegas series #9 pictures were taken June 8 - 9 - 10, 2009 along the Las Vegas strip (Las Vegas Blvd.) and surrounding area. All images were shot with a Fuji F200 EXR. 4000 x 3000 pixel images will print at 300 dpi up to 10" x 13" print size. (Resolution is 4000 x 3000 pixels for all volume 9 standard images, and 2816 x 2112 pixels for high dynamic range images.)

We stayed at Encore during this trip and focused on the north half of the Las Vegas Strip (Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Treasure Island, Trump, Fashion Show Mall.)

The Fuji F200 EXR camera has two sensors and can shoot 12 megapixel photos as well as 6 megapixel high dynamic range photos, which is accomplished by simultaneously shooting two pictures (one overexposed, one underexposed) and combining them. All the 2816 x 2112 size pictures in Las Vegas Photos #9 are high dynamic range photos.

This series of images includes two sets of photos taken at the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada" sign, one set taken on a sunny morning (labeled "am welcome") and one set taken in the afternoon under heavy clouds (labeled "pm welcome"). There is a heavy emphasis on Wynn, Encore, Trump, Treasure Island and Mirage; plus shots of Rio, Palms, Harrah's, the new Crown (under construction next to the Sahara), Echelon (on hold at the Stardust site), CityCenter (which is nearly completed), Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, Stratosphere, the new Mirage volcano in action, and the Blue Angel Motel on East Fremont Street.

We were lucky to have a nice cloud cover all day on June 9. Winter trips to Las Vegas normally involve big puffy clouds and clear blue sky to use as backgrounds; but summer months can offer an unattractive grayish blue sky with no clouds at all.
