Rio Suites is now owned by Harrah's. I stayed there twice prior to the change in ownership, and would recommend Rio as a better than average property although the location is not ideal and many people have complained about the Rio going "downhill" since being bought by Harrah's. Every room is a suite (really big), is nicely furnished and the overall atmosphere of the property is pleasant. The disadvantage here is that it's about a mile long walk along Flamingo Rd. to the strip. Palms and Gold Coast are the only other nearby properties. The walk to the strip is safer now that there is a pedestrian bridge over the freeway. If you have a rental car or don't mind riding in taxis a lot, the Rio's location is not much of a disadvantage. There is also a free shuttle that runs back & forth from the Rio to Harrah's on the strip; but that involves a lot of standing around & waiting and probably being packed in with a crowd. Riding crowded buses is not something I think of as part of a fun vacation.
