We've never stayed at the Riviera but have visited this property many times. The casino is huge but has a pleasant atmosphere (not too crowded or noisy), there's a fast-food court at the south entrance to the property, and a small video game arcade. Although Riviera has been in business since 1955 they were one of the first properties to switch over to the new slot machine ticket system. (If you haven't been to Las Vegas in awhile... coin operated machines are now very scarce. Most have been changed over to a ticket based system where the machine prints you out a ticket which you can either cash in or feed into another machine to continue playing.)
