Venetian - 3355 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas NV 89109    877-857-1861

One of the best vacation resort casino properties in Las Vegas. Every room at the Venetian is a suite. The entire property has an extremely upscale and elegant atmosphere modeled with remarkable detail after the city of Venice in Italy.

I've stayed at the Venetian twice (2001 and 2002) and enjoyed it very much. Although the rooms are not exactly what I think of as "suites" (they're about double the size of a standard hotel room, and the bed area is kind of on an elevated platform separate from the "living room") they are similar to the Rio's rooms and are probably the best standard rooms I've seen. By "standard room" I mean this is the type of room you get if you make a reservation for "a room" without requesting a suite, Jacuzzi tub, etc. The first time I visited the Venetian, I thought to myself "This is what people who don't know what to do with their money do." Sheldon Adelson directed the construction of the Venetian with a critical eye for detail; down to trivial things most visitors won't even notice such as making sure the water in the canals exactly matched the color of the water in the canals of Venice, Italy.

All rooms at the Venetian include a small safe, fax machine, mini-refrigerator stocked with beverages (beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks, water) and a drawer stocked with snacks. Prices are high on these items (like $5 for a small bag of M&M's)and you get automatically charged as soon as you pick something up. The rest of the property is like a museum full of Renaissance art reproductions: statues, paintings, frescoes, marble floors, fountains, stained glass, etc.
I highly recommend the Venetian as a romantic getaway for couples.
